Few people know, but Webroot offers you a free version of its antivirus, which is only slightly inferior to the paid one. It is enough to protect your home PC. As a matter of fact, we will show you an example of downloading, installing and registering an antivirus just on the free version. If you need a more advanced, paid version, then go to the official Webroot website and buy the program there. Otherwise, all installation steps will be almost identical.
So, for starters, you must drive in the search engine "Webroot for free". In the first or second link, you will be prompted to go to the site www.webroot.com/safe, where you can download a licensed free version of the antivirus.
Almost immediately you will see Webroot Cloud - Free, and to the right of it is a red download button. Click on it. You will be redirected to the next page of Webroot, where a more detailed description of the antivirus will be shown. Here, by the way, you can get acquainted with all the functions that the developers offer you in your creation.
Actually, scroll down the page, and you will see the name of the program, and you can also select the platform for which you download the antivirus. If you have Windows - press the red download button, if Linux or something else - select the platform and download the antivirus already for it.
Next, open the installation file and start the installation process. It is similar to any other program or game.
The only point is to uncheck the Yandex bar, which you will be prompted to install complete with an antivirus program. In the next window, uncheck the installation of Webroot Password Manager (if you don't need it, of course).
At the end of the installation, you will see a tablet with recommendations. Leave everything here except the last item.
All you have to do is complete the installation. However, the antivirus installation process does not end there. Go to the program and you will see a line that will require you to provide an email address. Don't be afraid, it's all right. Enter your email here.
It is you who creates your account for using the antivirus. Next, you will need to come up with a password for this account. Please note that the program requires certain conditions for your password.
After that, your account will be ready. Webroot will automatically offer you to try the paid version of the anti-virus for free (within a month). Here you can agree or refuse, depending on what you need from the program.
After that, go to your mail, which you entered for your Webroot account. In the inbox you will find a notification from webroot.com/secure. Go to the message and click on the "confirm" button that will be there.
Next, return to your account and you will see that your mail is linked to your account. This can be seen in the lower right corner of the program, next to the already active status of your profile.
Go straight to recommendations. To do this, simply click on the "details" button next to the program icon. There you will see whether you need to update the program databases or not.
Because since this version is completely legal, you can safely update it to the required parameters until you see 3 checkboxes in the protection section, shown in the screenshot below.
